Monty: The Shih Tzu Who Thinks He’s Royalty

Step into the whimsical world of Monty, a Shih Tzu with a personality as grand as his luxurious mane. This little lion is not just a dog; he’s a living, tail-wagging testament to the fact that the best things truly do come in small, fluffy packages. With his mischievous eyes and perfectly coiffed coat, Monty has a way of turning the most mundane moments into tiny adventures.

The Royal Introduction

Monty isn’t your average lapdog. With a coat that could rival the finest velvet and a gaze capable of melting even the iciest of hearts, he carries himself with the grace of royalty and the charm of a seasoned entertainer. Each morning begins with a ceremonial stretch—back legs, front legs, tail flick—followed by a thorough inspection of his human subjects. Breakfast service must meet his exacting standards, and failure to provide the correct portion of kibble or a timely sprinkle of treats may result in a stern glare.

Beyond breakfast, Monty maintains a rigorous schedule of naps in sunlit corners, occasional zoomies that transform the living room into a canine racetrack, and supervisory rounds to ensure that the household is operating according to his royal decree. Visitors are greeted with a polite sniff and a wagging tail, but only after passing Monty’s very official “approval test.”

A Nose for Adventure

Despite his aristocratic airs, Monty has a nose for adventure that rivals any explorer. He absolutely adores his walks around lakes, ponds, and forest tracks. For longer excursions, the Monty Truck converts into a cycle trailer, allowing him to glide along woodland paths, past shimmering lakes, and through the occasional meadow, all while a gentle breeze ruffles his fur. It’s a level of comfort and style most humans can only dream of.

Grooming: The Price of Beauty

Maintaining Monty’s regal appearance is no small feat. His flowing coat requires daily brushing to prevent tangles and mats, and regular grooming sessions ensure he remains the picture of canine elegance. Monty takes his beauty regime very seriously—any stray hair is met with quiet judgment, and a perfectly brushed mane is always rewarded with a contented sigh and a wag of approval. But for Monty, it’s all part of the lifestyle. After all, one must suffer for beauty, and no lion should look anything less than majestic.

The Heart of the Home

Despite his aristocratic airs and occasional diva moments, Monty is the heartbeat of the household. He is loyal, affectionate, and endlessly amusing. Beneath the kind of summer sky that seems impossibly blue and heavy with light, we set out for Zbiornik retencyjny „Gańczorka”. The road wound steadily upward through stretches of pine and birch, the air shifting from the heat of the valleys to the cooler whispers of the hills. Even before we caught sight of the water, there was a sense that the day would leave its mark. When we arrived, the reservoir lay before us like a sheet of liquid glass, its stillness disturbed only by the faintest ripple. Here, engineering and nature share an uneasy alliance — the concrete walls and channels holding back a body of water that seems too wild to be contained. The sun poured gold over the surface, and every shift of the breeze sent waves of light dancing into the trees that guard its edges. A 6.5-kilometre circular walk around Lake Paprocany unfolds as a journey of quiet discovery, where every step reveals subtle moments often overlooked. Shadows stretch across wooden walkways, sunlight glimmers on rippling water, and the gentle rustle of leaves provides a soft soundtrack for contemplation. Monty, nestled comfortably in his little Monty truck, pauses between short explorations, enjoying treats and water, while we, too, take frequent breaks to savour the shade, breathe in the scent of the forest, and notice the distant calls of birds echoing across the lake. The day was documented through multiple perspectives. The Nikon D7200 captured intricate textures and fleeting details of the path, the DJI Pocket 2 recorded intimate close-ups that reveal hidden corners, and the DJI Mini 3 Pro drone offered sweeping aerial views of the lake, the surrounding forest, and the winding paths, presenting familiar landscapes in a new light.
